  • "Jolts" "Jump starts" when trying to sleep?

Hi, I'm extremely new to the site as well as new to trying to get help for my anxiety and depression at all. I know I have anxiety and occasional depressive episodes, but not sure if they fall under mild, moderate, or severe yet because I have yet to get a diagnosed or even see a therapist yet (my first session is next week). Recently I've developed some trouble sleeping after a depressive/anxious episode that lasted for a few weeks, and I'm writing to see if what I'm experiencing may be anxiety and to see if anyone else has dealt with it. Like the title states, when I start to drift to sleep, I get these weird impulses that feel like a sort of jumpstart to my system, basically pulling me from the brink of falling asleep and sending this kind of "wake up" signal. I usually feel these jolts either in my brain or my chest. When I do go to sleep, I get night sweats. I noticed them toward the end of last month. The jolts kinda went away for a week or so, but I think they may be coming back. Of course, I am going to see a doctor to rule out sleep apnea as well, but wanted to know if anyone with anxiety has experienced this sensation and if you all have any tips to help me out. Thanks!
  • Does anyone else feel physically tired but your mind won't stop?

I am so tired of this stuff, ok it's like whenever I have something important to do like go to class in the morning the night before my eyes are burning and I know I feel I need to sleep but my head won't shut up. It's like I have to replay every detail of my day out before my brain says ok you processed every little freakin thing now you can sleep and it ends up being 4-5am and I can't drive when I'm super tired because of panic attack reasons and my school is 40 minutes away one way. But I don't know what to do? I'm seriously at my wit's end with this. I process everything at night but notice it more when I know I have to get up early then I'm screwed. Any suggestions ? I try going to bed at 9:30pm and it's now 1:57am ugh anyway yeah
  • How do I sleep with anxiety?

I have so much trouble falling asleep for my anxiety becomes overwhelming and I am unable to relax enough to fall asleep. The smallest of sounds shake me and when I feel myself drifting off I fret and bolt upright and panic. I don't want to take medication for this, I have a health condition that prohibits me from taking such medications.
  • How to tackle pure obsessional OCD??

  • I feel like I'm going crazy. Help!

The past few days I have been feeling terrible. I don't know how much longer I can take it. This is going to sound weird but I keep having scary, uncontrollable thoughts that I am going insane or I'm possessed. I can't sleep at night because I keep getting sensations of being startled awake. My anxiety is making me feel physically ill. My heart has been palpitating constantly, I just took my pulse and it's 96 bpm sitting down. My chest feels heavy. This is not the first time I have experienced this. I am afraid I might end up in the emergency room or mental hospital. I don't know if it's a panic attack or side effect from my meds ( I take sertraline Zoloft and Abilify). Has anyone else here experienced this? How do I make it go away? Please help.
  • I'm stuck

Lately I've been feeling stuck, like I'm not improving. I'm not getting worse either. But it seems like I've been doing better. But I'm not sure if it's because I am getting better and the working on myself is actually doing something. Or I'm only feeling like I'm doing better because the main trigger for my anxiety and depression is momentarily gone. I just don't know what to do. The working on myself is expressing my emotions and feelings more, and trying to reach out to my friends. I've been figuring out what Happens during an attack and what helps. I know myself pretty well in that area. But I want to be able to do more then just coping with it. I want it to get less. I only have no idea how
  • When I eat spicy foods, my anxiety can go up and mind mind races at night so I do not sleep well at night. Is this Anxiety thing or as I am Diabetic, is this something else? Anyone get this?

I find eating things like Taco's or Montreal Steak Anything that is very spicy tends to make me Anxious and make it very hard to sleep do to mind racing. Is this normal, or something else? If something like this affects you what helps you sleep? I do not sleep well and feel this is one of my biggest problems.
