When I eat spicy foods, my anxiety can go up and mind mind races at night so I do not sleep well at night. Is this Anxiety thing or as I am Diabetic, is this something else? Anyone get this?

I find eating things like Taco's or Montreal Steak Anything that is very spicy tends to make me Anxious and make it very hard to sleep do to mind racing. Is this normal, or something else? If something like this affects you what helps you sleep? I do not sleep well and feel this is one of my biggest problems.

This happens to me frequently and I'd say it's the anxiety. I start to get anxious as soon as my stomach becomes upset by food since I have a health phobia. Usually I take an antacid to relieve the stomach issue. Once it starts to work I calm down.

There are certain properties to spicy foods that could induce anxiety. Just like the caffeine in soda or coffee can do it to you, so can certain spices

I'm sure it's probly spicy food that makes you not sleep proper , I know on nights I eat it I toss and turn and get heartburn and all that fun stuff , I find drinking decafinated tea or just a plain glass of water helps settle me down and expecially if you sip it slowly I find it helps calm my breathing :) and if you were diabetic you would be drinking tons of water and feeling thirsty all the time and urinating tons and feeling barely able to move tired :)

I think it's the anxiety. I never had problem with spicy foods. But when you get anxiety, it seriously messes with your digestive tract, your bowel movements, everything. It's horrible. I thought I was starting to be allergic to almost all food except carrots and rice. When my anxiety eventually went away (it was severe and I never thought it would), guess what, I could eat anything I wanted just like before. Crazy eh. Except alcohol. In my case, alcohol excerbates my anxiety. I recently had anxiety flare up after 6 months of feeling normal / amazing.
