Stomach issues & anxiety?

I have problems needing the toilet excessively when i'm anxious, in fact, that is what causes my anxiety. I have stomach problems and the fear of being away from the toilet when this happens, makes them even worse. Its a vicious cycle. This has been ongoing for 4 years now.

Is this normal? Do others get this?

I can go to the loo up to 8 times, it's that bad. I usually have diarrhea or loose stools that are yellow in colour.

I need advice because it is ruining my life and it's got to the stage now that everything is hard, working is hard, going to the shops, going on a bus, going to a beach...all those simple things are impossible. If i cant get rid of this i will commit suicide...a life like this is not worth living....

Thank you.

Have you seen a doctor about it? I think you can get medicine for that. A lot of people have that. I used to walk around gagging because of anxiety. Taking pills to stop nausea helped. You can get mess for the other end too.

Even though it 's uncomfortable, it's normal and in most people with anxiety triggered by that same anxiety, or as a side-effect of a medicine. On the other hand, what can go wrong ? Try to stretch the time you usually give in to going to the toilet and see if you can control it yourself. That way you will notice that it doesn't have to go wrong. For the rest I would indeed talk to a doctor and/or find a therapist. The thoughts associated with your fear can be controlled with CBT in a very effective way.

I went through something like this a couple of years back, though it wasn't happening for 4 years straight. I would recommend taking pepto-bismol for the standard anti-diarrhea aspect of it. I would also recommend seeing a doctor specializing in the digestive system. Please don't commit suicide, there are plenty of ways to help you enjoy your life again. May God bless you in your struggle.

I have the exact, same, problem. I thought maybe I had IBS or something, and it's hard to go out when you feel like your stomach is doing flips all the time. You're not alone, it's great to know you're not the only one going through this. I'm sorry I don't have any advice to give you because I'm about to go see the doctor about it too and I haven't started treatment yet, but hopefully we can begin healing together. Good day.
