Buspirone is an anxiolytic. It is used on a short term basis to treat anxiety. 45mg a day is the maximum daily dosage (most people are prescribed 15-30mg a day, usually starting at 5mg a day then increased). It is very common and is preferred to tablets such as diazepam because is not addictive. Common side effects include nausea, dizziness and headaches. If you think you are pregnant or trying for a baby you should inform your dr. Other than that it is perfectly safe and most people find it works really well. If it doesn't work for you another option is a drug called Promazine.
