Does anyone else struggle with using transport?

I think part of my anxiety began by using the bus to college. I kept getting panic attacks during the journey, and as the bus doesn't stop until it gets to college, it felt impossible to get off. This led to even more panic, and now I avoid long journeys on any kind of transport. Even just travelling in the car with my parents makes me feel panicked and stressed, and I'll often worry about going anywhere far away where I will have to travel back from. It's really affecting my life, and despite applying to university, I'm not sure I could cope with it.

I can totally relate that. For certain reasons I did my last year of high school in a school that was about 1 hour and half away. I had travel part of it by train and part of it by bus everyday 2 times. It was quite tough for me. Most of times I was just frozen due to anxiety, I just looked down staring at the floor for the whole journey. It was more frightening when the train or the bus was crowded. People usually find using public transport tiring, but I sensed so much anxiety that I didnt feel the tiredness until I reached home or school.

My journey to college was an hour there and an hour back too, sometimes longer if the traffic was bad which got me even more anxious. I just felt so claustrophobic, and since returning to college as a second year, the bus is ALWAYS full, barely any spare seats, in complete contrast to last year when it was always half empty. I think I just had this on-going fear that I would panic and humiliate myself, which made me panic in the first place, and then I would be stuck on there and not be able to get off without causing a scene. Luckily I can drive but it meant I avoided the bus altogether and have to spend a lot of money on fuel everyday. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who feels like this about public transport!

Nope you are not alone. Trust me, about 90 percent of the people who use public transport prefer to use their own transport. So its a very good thing that you are using a car, its much easier and comfortable in my opinion.
