Hey there - Just wanted to share my experience with you. I know the wait until the appointment can be awful, seek emergency attention or a walk in clinic in the meantime if you need to. (I visited a walk in before my regular appointment) Anyways, I suffer from social anxiety and it comes and goes. It's difficult to pinpoint because I too suffer from GAD too. I sometimes feel like people are watching and judging my actions and body. I meet people and think they may be pre-judging me. Sometimes I don't want to talk to people, even people I know.. I understand how you're feeling. I got help with that part of my life now. It's easier to understand and it comes and goes now. There was a time where I was social, happy and not anxious and that will come back. Trust me, it'll happen for you too.

Hi, I was diagnosed with G.A.D. For me, social anxiety is just one way (or area of my life) that the anxiety manifests itself. For me, I don't see it as a separate issue. I know that it can be hard to get into a Psychiatrist, but I've found therapists (like an LCSW or psychologist) to be a great support, on a more regular basis, usually weekly for me. Therapists are cheaper than psychiatrists and may even offer treatment on a sliding scale. I've heard that you can contact a graduate school for Psychology or Psychiatry and might be able to get pretty affordable treatment by therapists/doctors in training. Good luck. Rex
