What self help books have others tried?

I am looking to use some self help books to get me on track and wonder what others have used, were they helpful and why? Are there any to stay away from would also be helpful to know! Thanks!

I read Overcoming Social Anxiety & Shyness by Gillian Butler. It helped me a lot. It'll teach you the cognitive behavioral approach; you'll learn to recognize your thoughts and change them from negative to positive, and learn to face your fears instead of avoiding them. I also had depression, so I had to read Overcoming Depression by Paul Gilbert as well. These books will even teach you the soothing breathing exercise and mindfulness.
