Anxiety does increase blood presure but I don't think that much... I have strong anxieties for years and my blood presure is still ok so I guess it takes more than that......... I don't think you should worry about it....

I'm not sure about high BP, as mine actually usually runs low, but I know I have an abnormally fast pulse rate. My doctor isn't sure if that is a cause of my anxiety or a symptom. I was prescribed BP medication to slow my heart rate in hopes that it would lessen my anxiety. I honestly think it helps some.
Anxiety can create a spike in blood pressure - only temporary - but can it cause extreme pressures? No. You have other issues if your blood pressure is abnormally high and you should probably see a doctor. Could be imbalances in your hormones or thyroids…could be a variety of reasons which is why your doctor would most likely prescribe you meds as a temporary fix while you get your blood draws for lab work and wait for results to come back. If you are a smoker or overweight, this will easily increase your blood pressure and you will most definitely have other issues to deal with.
