I am not on medication. I have anxiety, with panic attacks and am recovering from agrophobia. When I went to my doctor, he prescribed me some meds but I was of the thinking that I got myself into this mess I was going to get myself out. I have come along way but I am not anywhere near being back to normal. I have never taken any meds.

People living with severe mental illnesses and medicated found it hard to believe when I told them I wasn't in therapy or using meds to treat my conditions. Yet, with each passing week I shared with them how to live, how to think, how to do things, how to use their five senses and before long some got better. One girl said. "Its been 5 years since I last had a date. I'm dating again.
When a person decides they want to quit smoking, they will have a hard time stopping due to not changing anything else in their life, everything in their life was associated with their smoking. They become frustrated and angry because nothing is working.
The same is true for Diets not working. When a person needs to change something in their life, they have to make other changes. So, are you going through the same things as the day before? If, yes, then nothing is going to change.
I bet you have more fears today, then when you were two year old. You should have had more fears then, then you have today. What went wrong? You started listening to other people and to your own voice, what your mind tells you. Its time to get in the middle of your problems. -
I have been "clean" since March 2007.
What are your diagnoses/symptoms? Depends on the doctor. Have been diagnosed with GAD, panic disorder, PTSD, specific phobia, agoraphobia, and bipolar 2.
How do you manage them? I took a really, really amazing cognitive behavioural therapy program that changed my life. What helped me most was learning exactly and specifically what's happening within your body and mind, biologically, when the panic process is occuring, and exposure therapy (facing specific situations that scared the crap out of me, head on, and sticking it out in those situations until the panic had come, happened, and gone).
Why aren't you taking meds? I loathe paxil. Personally, paxil did me more harm than good, and left me feeling completely numb. The only emotion I experienced was anger. I became a different person, a bitter, hateful, angry person. I had horrible violent, vivid dreams, crazy nightsweats, broke out in an insane rash. I was fortunate enough to find a CBT program that helped me take my life back for real, so don't need medication anymore.
Have you ever taken any? I've taken effexor xr (made me very ill), paxil (long term), cipralex (very briefly), clomipramine (VERY briefly) and ativan (as needed, still have some/take once or twice a year).
