Klonopin has it's benefits but it should only be prescribed for very short term (2 weeks) and only in extreme need. This is only my opinion. I was prescribed Xanax (a benzo the same as klonopin) and became addicted and suffered extreme withdrawal symptoms and suffered for months. This is not to scare you, it's just to warn you that it is extremely addictive and can be extremely hard to discontinue. Klonopin also has a side effect of depression, it's a longer acting benzo, probably twice as long as xanax but the potency is about the same.

I've been on Klonopin for 4 years. 1mg tab nightly! They say its addictive but so far I've never needed my med upped but a few months ago i was going through hard times and asked my dr could i take a few extra in the month and I took 4 extra and thats it. But it does everyone different. All Klonopin does for me is slow my mind down while some say it makes them high. So as long as you stick to what your dr orders you should be ok.

you have to be careful with that drug because it is addictive, and it can cause seizures, it works on the similar part of the brain that alcohol does , so it's really bad if you combine the too. I was in treatment for other issues and they talked about that and how negative it can be I know people who have been addicted to it and it's hard getting off of it.

Klonopin saved my life literally. I had so much anxiety starting when I was in 6th grade. Of course being that age, I didn't even realize that it was anxiety. I thought I was just losing my mind. But I got prescribed Klonopin.. took it everyday for a few years and what a change! It works AMAZING! I'm now 25 and only take it maybe once a week if that and still works just as great.
