Although Post traumatic stress disorder does occur after traumatic events, not every event will cause it, it depends on the person himself, and the severity of the situation and the event itself.

What do you mean by the person himself? does race or gender matters?

No, not that, some individuals appear to be more vulnerable to PTSD. It is possible that underlying differences in the makeup of a person’s personality or brain physiology may contribute to the onset of PTSD more than others.

Also the situation it self, and the circumstances surrounding that situation, because the same situation with certain surrounding circumstances may cause PTSD while the same situation with different circumstances may not.
