I don't really know. But my mom was addicted to valium a long time ago. I have no doubt she was abusing it so I don't know what dosage she was taking or how much more she took than she needed. But it can cause dependency issues from what I have seen personally. I just don't know if a normal dosage carries the same addiction risks as abusing it does.

YES. No question. It is always a possibility with benzodiazapines like Valium. The lower the dose and frequency, the less likely and the less intense any resulting addiction/withdrawals will be. A high dose, higher risk and stronger addiction (if you do become addicted). If you abuse high doses, take it frequently or very long term, of course the potential for addiction problems will go up accordingly. Everyone is different so, while a low dose may be easy to quit when the time comes for some people, some people can have addiction issues at even a low but regular dose--especially if you have any past substance abuse tendencies. I studied these things in college, if anyone tells you there is zero risk of addiction, even a doctor, they are not well educated or just plain lying--and it does happen, even with trained doctors. Always be careful and research your meds before you take them. Wish you well.

Yes - Valium is very addictive as with the rest of benzos. Taking it doesn't necessarily mean that because you take it, you will become addicted but it certainly has the addictive component you need to be aware of.
