I'm not sure what effects Medical Marijuana has on the mind and body. I smoke a bit of pot every now and then, it does help relax me but it also makes me anxious to be around anyone who is not smoking too. It can also bring on paranoia, but that is standard weed off the streets. I would like to know if anyone has tried Medical Marijuana and what effects it has on them. Here in Oz it is illegal(like most countries) and there is no Medical Marijuana to speak of, even though people are lobbying for it's use with cancer sufferers and people with MS.

Thanks for your answer. I used to smoke occasionally and it was always medical. Sometimes it made me feel extremely relaxed and other times it made me very anxious. And I'm not sure why. I know it wasn't strain related either.

I am a medical patient in the US and for me it helps i wouldn't ever be able to sleep if it weren't for the weed. Though still highly regulated i say it's a great alternative to addictive narcotics like xanax and valium.

Thank you for sharing! If you come back to the page, do you have the prescription just for insomnia, or other things like GAD or panic attacks?

Hi, i actually think it was weed that caused my anxiety, maybe not completely but i know it had some part in it. i dont think there is a difference between medical marijuana and what can be got on the street but i think it boils down to this: if your in good form (not having any negative thoughts) weed is fine and probably good for you but if you have any recurring doubts on your mind it can take you to a bad place. id say if you were smoking it with someone who you completely trusted and had no secrets from you would be fine as you've no reason to get paranoid, ya just have to be carefull with weed sayin that some of the best times ive had was with mates stoned and laughing at nothin.

As i said it's different for everyone if i smoke to much then it can make it worse. I disagree with your statement about your state of mind for me i smoke it when im down and out and then feel much better. I will say as always it effects everyone differently. My Perscription is for Insomnia and GAD.

I smoke for a few different reasons, the main ones being depression and sleep. I have to say that it can make my anxiety worse but it depends on weather I'm feeling anxious at the time and how much I smoke.

I always wondered if doctors would prescribe medical marijuana for anxiety.. I have considered asking my family physician about it. Weed makes me so relaxed!

i firmly believe if there is a holistic med use that before any of the crap doctors are selling for drug companies . i have been using pot as a treatment for several years and it works for me along with CBT just be carefull with self medicating be honest with your doctors to and tell them this is a path you are considering all of my doctors have seen a positive to pot in my treatment they can not condone it for legal reasons but they are not against it either

I wished it worked for me. Marijuana actually has the opposite effect on me and increases my anxiety. It feels like I can't get my mind off of my panic symptoms, then that creates more panic, and on and on in a vicious cycle. I quit smoking when I was 19 because of this and over the years every time I've tried I have a panic attack. Honestly, I miss marijuana but I just can't have it since it triggers my anxiety.
